A Dwelling of Love From a Welling Who’s Loved

Come, Follow Me: Book of Mormon. Week 11: Jacob 1 – 4

The Lesson:

This week, the Come, Follow Me: Book of Mormon manual asks us to read Jacob 1-4. In the Latter Day Parables, June finds Mom packing up her old toys and clothes to donate and does not want to share. Mom explains that when we have riches, it’s important to feed the hungry and clothe the naked. In the end, June decides to share because it not only makes the person who receives her things happy, but it makes Heavenly Father happy as well.

Before reading the story, gain an understanding of the scriptures Jacob 2: 17-19. Perhaps as a play on words, you could provide donuts to eat as you read the story. As you read, use the visual puppets as you tell the story. Ask your children what it means to clothe the naked, feed the hungry, liberate the captive, and relieve the sick. How can your children give to those in need? Perhaps you can deliver food to the food bank or maybe you can donate old clothes or toys to the local Good Will or DI. If you are teaching your own children, choose something everyone can do as a family and follow through with it.
