Come, Follow Me: Book of Mormon. Week 21: Mosiah 29 – Alma 4

The Lesson:

This week, the Come, Follow Me: Book of Mormon manual asks us to read Mosiah 29- Alma 4. In the Latter Day Parables, Auggie doesn’t think he can compete with Jenny, a girl in his class, for class president. He explains to his sister April that Jenny has been promising all the students no homework if they vote for her. Hearing about someone lying to gain popularity and support reminds April about Nehor. Nehor lied to the Nephites so they could join his church. April explains to Auggie that in the end, Jenny will be disciplined for her lies, just as Nehor was. It is always better to love and serve others.

Before reading the story, read Mosiah 29- Alma 4 and gain an understanding of it for yourself. Read about Nehor in Alma chapter 1. You can tell the story of Nehor to your children and then read “As Popular as Nehor” provided in the Quick Clicks below. Use the cut-outs as you tell the story. Explain to your children that many people who are not member know we are members of the church. What kind of example of the church are we to others? Do we lie or cheat to become popular? Or do we love and serve others?
