A Dwelling of Love From a Welling Who’s Loved

February 18-24. Matthew 5; Luke 6

February 18-24. Matthew 5; Luke 6

This week, the Come, Follow Me for Individuals and Families manual has us reading Matthew 5 and Luke 6. Read these chapters for yourself before using the Latter Day Parables so you can further teach your children yourself. In the Latter Day Parables, April gets recognized in the newspaper for her good works. This reminds Mom of the scripture, Matthew 5:16 “Let your lights so shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Talk to your children about specific good things they have done (Got a diaper for the baby, picked up toys, hugged a crying friend). Tell them how happy it makes Heavenly Father feel when we choose to do good! Try to memorize Matthew 5:16 and help your children to memorize it as well!

What You Need

  1. Cut-outs of April, Mom, May, and the Newspaper Article as visuals for the “Shine Before Men” story. Print (on cardstock), color, cut, and laminate (for durability) the cut-outs and use them as you tell the story. My daughter loves holding up the cut-outs as the characters “speak” in the story! Provided below is the cut-out for the Newspaper Article. If you haven’t yet, print out the Original Latter Day Parables Family so you can use April, Mom, and May for the story. You can store these cut outs in a Come, Follow Me 2019 Binder for later use.
  2. Matthew 5:16 scripture printable. You can print it out (cut and laminate too if you’d like) and tape or magnet it on the refrigerator to remind you each day to memorize the scripture
  3. “Shine Before Men” story. Provided below are both PDF and Word copies for you to print out then store in your Come, Follow Me 2019 Binder.
