Come, Follow Me: Book of Mormon. Week 13. Enos – Words of Mormon

The Lesson:

This week, the Come, Follow Me for Individuals and Families manual asks us to read Enos – Words of Mormon. In the Latter Day Parables, June doesn’t want to kneel down for family prayer. Mom explains that kneeling is like bowing and its a way for us to show respect to Heavenly Father. The family then goes over the difference ways we can show reverence and respect when we pray.

Before reading the story, read Enos. Explain Enos’ account to your children. Explain that he prayed all day and night. Read the story while using the visuals provided in the Quick Clicks below. Have your children demonstrate the different ways we can show reverence.

After the story, you can use the Recognizing Reverence Flash Card Activity. Have your child point out which cards show reverence and which ones don’t. If your children are old enough, you can print out doubles and create a matching game out of the cards.

What You Need:

  1. Cut-outs of Mom, June, May, and Auggie. If you haven’t yet, download the free Original Latter Day Parables Family cut-outs to get your visuals for this week’s story. Print, cut out, and laminate the cut-outs and then store them in your Come, Follow Me: Book of Mormon Binder for future use.
  2. “Kneel to Pray” story. Provided in the Quick Clicks below is a PDF document of the story that you can download for free. Print out the story and store it in your Come, Follow Me: Book of Mormon Binder.
  3. Recognizing Reverence Flash Card Activity. You can download it below in the Quick Clicks. Print and cut out the cards. Laminate for durability. If you’d like, you can print out the cards twice to create a memory game. Go over each card with your young children and read off the description. Explain to your children whether the card shows reverence or not. If you’d like, act out each card. After going over the flash cards, have your children find the reverent cards among the cards that do not show reverence. If you choose to play a memory game with the cards, make sure to establish with cards are reverent and which aren’t as you make matches.
