Valentine’s Day Tiered Tray: Cupid Silhouette

Another holiday means a new arrangement on my tiered tray! Hooray! My daughter woke up from her nap to see the Valentine’s Day decor and was freaking out, thinking it was Valentine’s day. Sorry, hun! Valentine’s day is in 3 weeks! But she is definitely my daughter, getting hyped about holidays!

I have to say, Walmart has really upping their decor game lately. I perused the little Valentine’s Day decorations aisle they had and was very pleased to find two cute items for my tiered tray! There was a cute Tic-Tac-Toe board with hearts and arrows and a cute silhouette box with a heart in it.

Now, being 3 hours away from the nearest Hobby Lobby (tragic, I know), I made sure to buy a handful of versatile decorations for my tiered tray. For instance, I was able to buy this cute tag frame 40% off! I love it because you can switch out the pictures for each holiday or season, rather than buying a whole separate piece of decor.

However, when I was setting up my tiered tray for Valentine’s day, I was stumped. What should I put in that little frame? So I asked my aunt for advice. She suggested a silhouette of cupid! How brilliant! See, tiered trays can’t just have a ton of words- that would look too messy. And you can’t have just a bunch of random objects either. There needs to be a balance. And a silhouette of Cupid is the perfect balance as a focal point for my tiered tray! So I found a picture I liked and printed it out.

For your tiered tray, it’s important to give it a focal point object (like my Cupid picture), greenery (like the pine needles in the mug- it’s still Winter!), and words (to make it fun!). There’s also an unspoken rule to use about 3 colors for your tiered tray; including the green in your greenery as your color scheme is your choice. Too many colors just looks like a circus on your counter. For instance, for Halloween, the colors I used were orange, black, and white. For my Valentine’s Day tiered tray, the colors are black, white, and red. Stick to these rules and your tiered tray will always look great!
