Come, Follow Me: Book of Mormon. Week 40: 3 Nephi 20 – 26

The Lesson:

This week, the Come, Follow Me: Book of Mormon manual asks us to read 3 Nephi 20-26 In the Latter Day Parables, May is a little reluctant to pay her tithing. In a simple way, April explains what tithing is, why we pay tithing, and where our tithing goes.

Before reading the story, read 3 Nephi 20-26 and gain an understanding of it for yourself. Specifically read 3 Nephi 24:8-12. Why should we pay tithing? What will happen if we do? As you tell the Latter Day Parable, use the visuals provided in the Quick Clicks below. To help your children understand what it means to pay a tenth, use ten one dollar bills or ten dimes and pull out one. Explain to your children that paying tithing is a way to say ‘thank you’ to Heavenly Father for the blessings He has given us. We shouldn’t be sad when we pay tithing! Tell your children what tithing can pay for! Then explain that the scriptures say Heavenly Father will pour out His blessings to us when we choose to pay tithing.
