Come, Follow Me: Book of Mormon. Week 37: 3 Nephi 8-11

The Lesson:

This week, the Come, Follow Me: Book of Mormon manual asks us to read 3 Nephi 8-11. In the Latter Day Parables, May and Mom talk about how a hen will gather her chicks under wing to keep them safe. Mom explains that Jesus once described Himself to be like a hen gathering her chicks. He can comfort us, as long as we choose to repent and come unto Him.

Before reading the story, read 3 Nephi 8-11 and gain an understanding of it for yourself. Read 3 Nephi 10:4-6. How is Jesus like a hen? How can we come unto Him? As you tell the Latter Day Parable, use the visuals provided in the Quick Clicks below.  You can pretend with your children that a fox is coming! Have them bring the chick to its mother’s wing. Explain that temptations and sins are like a fox and Jesus is like the hen. If we repent, we will be able to be free of our sins, come unto Jesus, and be comforted. Use the Auggie cut-out and have him leave the sins and into Jesus’ arms.
