A Dwelling of Love From a Welling Who’s Loved

Week 22: June 3-9. John 13-17

Week 22: June 3-9. John 13-17

The Lesson:

This week, the Come, Follow Me for Individuals and Families manual asks us to read John 13-17. In the Latter Day Parables, Auggie and Dad help do yard work for a widow in their ward. Auggie complains to Dad and Dad is quick to remind Auggie about Jesus’ example in serving others. Jesus washed the feet of His apostles. He didn’t complain but showed love instead. Auggie had a change of heart after Dad talked to him and decided to Serve as Jesus Served.

Show your children the picture of Jesus washing the feet of the apostles. Explain how dirty feet get after walking for a long time on dirt roads. Jesus was very kind to wash all of their feet. No one wants to wash someone else’s feet, but He did. After reading the lesson, talk with your children about different ideas of service they could do to show love. They could empty the silverware in the dishwasher, pick up their toys without asking, or help write a letter to a friend or family member. Express to your child how much you appreciate being served. When they serve others, they are showing love like Jesus did.
