For the week of February 25 – March 3, the Come, Follow Me for Individuals and Families manual asks us to read Matthew 6-7. In the Latter Day Parables, the family has family home evening and talk about how to pray. Mom demonstrates what is and isn’t reverent. With your children, teach them how to pray, starting with “Dear Heavenly Father.” Show them how to be reverent. Print out the Recognizing Reverence Flash Cards and show them which ones represent reverence.
What you need:
- Cut-outs of Mom, Dad, April, Auggie, May, and June. If you haven’t yet, download the Original Latter Day Parables Family by clicking here. Print (cardstock is preferable), cut, and laminate (for durability) the cut-outs to give the story a visual. Store your cut-outs in a Come, Follow Me 2019 Binder for future use.
- “Learning to Pray” story. You can print out either the Word or PDF documents below in the Quick Clicks to tell the story and save the copy in your Come, Follow Me 2019 Binder.
- Recognizing Reverence Flash Card Activity. You can download it below in the Quick Clicks. Print and cut out the cards. Laminate for durability. If you’d like, you can print out the cards twice to create a memory game. Go over each card with your young children and read off the description. Explain to your children whether the card shows reverence or not. If you’d like, act out each card. After going over the flash cards, have your children find the reverent cards among the cards that do not show reverence. If you choose to play a memory game with the cards, make sure to establish with cards are reverent and which aren’t as you make matches.
